The Type One Strong Race for a Cure is a walk to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This race will raise money to fund research AND to raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes through race entry fees, donations, and various sponsors.
Millions of people around the world live with type 1 diabetes (T1D), a life-threatening autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults. There is no way to prevent it, and, at present, no cure. JDRF works every day to change this by amassing grassroots support, deep scientific knowledge and strong industry and academic partnerships to fund research. (jdrf.org)
The Type One Strong Race for a Cure also hopes to raise awareness of early signs of Type 1 diabetes. A delayed diagnosis can be tragic.
Our “team” is made up of family and friends of those who live every day with Type 1 diabetes, totally dependent on insulin. We know firsthand it’s a 24/7 disease that can strike anyone at any time. We want our efforts to bring support and encouragement to those fighting the battle.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
